Amateur esports tournament operator and platform holder Super League Gaming has announced a partnership with the upcoming Player Omega esports and gaming tour.
Super League Gaming will host esports tournaments at the tour stops in 2020, and also provide local esports competitions throughout the year in each tour market. Player Omega will make 10 North American stops in 2020, with Minneapolis, Niagara Falls, New York, Norwich, Connecticut, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia all confirmed so far. Super League Gaming’s goal is to help expand the local competitive scene in each market.
“Player Omega is about bringing something special, something big and exciting to players and organizers who haven’t had local experiences like this,” said Player Omega founder and CEO Jon Bukosky, in a release. “Working with Super League offers us a chance to continue the celebration of esports well after the tour stop ends, ensuring we’re making a lasting impact in each community.”
Super League Gaming will first partner with Player Omega for its first-ever festival in Pomona, California, on Nov. 9-10. The organization will hold open amateur tournaments for Fortnite and Minecraft at the event, along with a “special League of Legends showcase,” according to the Player Omega website.
Following the 10 stops in 2020, Player Omega plans to expand to 20 cities in 2021. Player Omega is also partnered with other tournament organizers and brands such as the National Championship Series presented by Nerd Street Gamers, Collegiate Starleague/WorldGaming, and Super Smash Bros. tournament series Genesis.
In addition to Bukosky, founder of Ultimate Media Ventures, Player Omega leadership includes music manager John Greenberg, Vans Warped Tour creator Kevin Lyman, and former ESL North America president Han Park.
