Amateur tournament operator and platform provider Super League Gaming has announced the appointment of Samir Ahmed as its chief technology officer.
Ahmed previously served as head of consumer technology at Amazon-owned movie website IMDb since February 2018, and before that was the vice president of technology and chief architect at Fandango. He joined Fandango as part of its acquisition of streaming video platform M-GO (rebranded as FandangoNOW), where Ahmed served as chief technology officer. Ahmed also owns 10 patents related to video technology.

“Samir’s wealth of knowledge and expertise in building advanced technological solutions and leading implementation efforts to expand digital entertainment platforms will be an invaluable asset to our management team,” said Super League Gaming founder and chief product officer David Steigelfest, in a release. “The timing is perfect for us to expand our executive team and to take our platform to the next level in terms of developing new and innovative ways to increase the number of touchpoints we have with gamers and rapidly growing esports audiences.”
Super League Gaming’s board of directors’ independent compensation commission approved an equity award for Ahmed as an inducement of employment. The awards will vest over the course of 36 months based on his continued employment.
