Singapore Sports Hub, a public-private partnership project between the Singapore government and SportsHub Pte Ltd, has announced the launch of an esports training facility in preparation of Singapore’s participation in the 2019 SEA Games. The training facility will be operated in partnership with Team Flash, a locally owned esports organization featuring five professional teams across Southeast Asia, and plans to run regular workshops and community activations.
The project is another chapter in the Singapore government’s growing interest in esports. In 2018 Singapore’s Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth presented Hyperplay, an ASEAN esports and music festival, which was also hosted at Singapore Sports Hub.
“Singapore Sports Hub is always proud to be a part of our local sports ecosystem. We are looking forward to the exciting plans with Team Flash which includes providing a conducive environment for emerging local talents especially in the world of esports. Singapore Sports Hub will be the partner of choice to growing Singapore’s esports industry and building future national stars,” said Adam Firth, chief commercial officer of Singapore Sports Hub.
