  • Rocket League’s next World Championship will take place at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, Spain, from Dec. 13-15.
  • Season 8 of the Rocket League Championship Series has a total prize pool of more than $1M USD.
  • Rocket League will also be part of the $500K Intel World Open tie-in to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The next Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) World Championship will be held in Spain, publisher Psyonix announced today.

The Season 8 World Championship will take place from Dec. 13-15 at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, Spain. It is the third RLCS World Championship event to take place in Europe, with the last being for Season 5 in London in June 2018. The Season 7 World Championship took place this past June in Newark, New Jersey.

As with the past two seasons, RLCS Season 8 features more than $1M USD in total prizing. Psyonix expanded the lower-tier Rocket League Rival Series (RLRS) this season to bring in additional teams and give them a chance to vie for a potential RLCS spot via the promotion tournament. RLCS Season 8 regular-season league play begins on October 5.

Rocket League was recently announced to be one of two games featured in the Intel World Open (alongside Capcom’s Street Fighter V), a new competition created in partnership with ESL and the International Olympic Committee. The $500K event will hold its finals in Tokyo in July 2020 ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
