At The Game Awards last night, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams took the stage to announce that new, exclusive footage from the film would be shown within Fortnite.
A movie screen inside the game will debut the footage on Saturday, Dec. 14 with Epic Games releasing several Star Wars-themed cosmetics to coincide with the reveal.
Epic has a history of partnering with upcoming films for in-game promotion including Marvel Studios’ two most recent Avengers films as well as John Wick 3. In February, the developer experimented with another multimedia in-game event in the form of a live concert from entertainer Christopher Comstock, aka Marshmello.
