Riot Games has released a recap of the 2019 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) season, which states that the Summer Split finals in Detroit, Michigan, contributed $5.44M USD to the local economy. Earlier this year, Riot reported that its League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split finals held in Rotterdam had an economic impact of roughly $2.25M.

In its release, the developer also reported an average-minute-audience (AMA) of 124K among 18-34 year olds in the United States. This makes the LCS the third most popular professional sports league among that demographic, according to data gathered by Nielsen, which partnered with Riot Games earlier this year to measure brand exposure during the LCS, LEC, and Riot’s international events.

Nielsen also has viewership measurement partnerships in place with ESL, DreamHack, and Activision Blizzard, the latter of which reported viewership results for the Overwatch League in October.
