Denmark-based audio solutions company EPOS, has been chosen by Riot Games Oceania as the official audio partner of the Oceanic Pro League (OPL). As part of the deal, EPOS headsets will be supplied to the League of Legends league starting with the second split. While financial details were not disclosed, the deal will run until the end of 2021.
This is the second move in the past three months for EPOS as the company announced in March that it extended its partnership with North, a Danish esports organization. That deal saw North use EPOS’ audio equipment for both travel and match use.
One of 12 regional League of Legends leagues around the world, sponsorships for the league and its teams have become of paramount concern in the OPL. Riot Games told the league in November of last year that it would no longer be receiving team stipends and minimum salary requirements for players. However, the teams and the league appear to be picking up steam as league and team sponsors start to come through. In February, Chiefs Esports Club signed a two-year deal with Marvel that will see the integration of Marvel properties into team activations.
The OPL Split 2 begins Friday, June 5. OPL teams Legacy Esports, Chief Esports, Dire Wolves, ORDER, Avant Gaming, Pentanet.GG, Gravitas, and MAMMOTH will vie for the chance to participate in the World Championship, taking place in Shanghai, China at the end of this year. Pentanet.GG replaces Bombers, a team tied to the Australian Football League’s Essendon Football Club. Pentanet.GG bought the slot from the organization in December of 2019.
