Riot Games has announced an alliance with Panasonic Avionics to bring League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) matches to the tech company’s in-flight entertainment systems.
Both LCS and lower-tier LCS Academy matches will be available “in a near-live format,” according to a release, letting passengers view North American League of Legends competition from screens found on commercial airplanes.
It is not yet known which airlines will feature League of Legends esports content, as that will be determined between Panasonic and the airlines that it supplies. Panasonic has more than 300 airline customers for its in-flight technologies, which include entertainment systems, cabin systems, and Wi-Fi services.
Earlier this week, Riot Games made several other announcements around the League of Legends franchise, including a new mobile and console version of the hit PC games, as well as spinoff card-battling game Legends of Runeterra and other in-development game projects. The League of Legends World Championship is currently ongoing, with the finals taking place in Paris on Nov. 10.
