According to reports by Indian media outlets including India Today and India.com, the Indian government has sent a notice to Chinese companies whose mobile apps were banned in the country at the end of June.
Following the bans, the Indian government sent companies whose apps were banned a notice containing 79 questions about how they handle data security, what information they collect, company structures, and more, according to India Today. The government will reportedly match the answers with information gathered by intelligence agencies and global watchdog groups to decide if these apps will be permanently banned on July 22.
Some users are already adopting Indian-made apps as substitutes, according to Inc42.
A total of 59 apps for Android and iOS devices were banned by order of the Ministry of Electronics and IT in the midst of ongoing border tensions between China and India. Among the apps banned were Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Clash of Kings, and short-form video platform Tik Tok.
