PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 Prize Pool Raised to $2.5M as Vivo Named Title Sponsor

Smartphone maker Vivo will be the title sponsor of the PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 tournament and provide smartphones for competition.

Additionally, the prize pool has been raised to $2.5M USD from the initially-announced $2M sum.

The PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 is a year-long international competition with spring and fall splits.

The PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019, a year-long event announced earlier this month by Tencent

and PUBG Corp, has added a title sponsor and raised its total prize pool.

Smartphone manufacturer Vivo will be the title sponsor for the competition and also provide the devices used during events. The Chinese company primarily makes mid-range and budget phones and doesn’t have a market presence in North America.

Additionally, the prize pool for the entire PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 season has been raised to $2.5M, rather than the $2M first confirmed this month. PUBG Mobile is the smartphone and tablet rendition of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS , the hit battle royale shooter that is currently in the midst of its own major esports push on PC.

“We are excited to partner with Vivo, as they have a strong reputation in being innovative and putting the consumer’s needs first,” said Tencent Games’ general manager of global publishing, Vincent Wang, in a release. “As an innovative brand ourselves, this partnership highlights our dedication to bring the best experience possible to our players and fans around the world. This partnership is just the beginning. We want to continue building a strong portfolio of partnerships with industry-leading companies, such as Vivo, to provide the best mobile gaming experience possible.”

Qualifiers for the Spring Split of the PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 began last week, with players from 10 regions participating in the competition. The Spring Split Global Finals will take place in July, while the Fall Split Global Finals will follow in December.

Vivo also recently partnered with Tencent to sponsor the 2019 King Pro League (KPL) Spring Season for Honor of Kings in China. Honor of Kings is a mobile MOBA game that has been released as Arena of Valor in Western markets.
