Nerd Street Gamers, the esports infrastructure company behind Localhost facilities, announced that MIKE AND IKE will be the official partner of the 2020 National Championship Series.

Partnering with Nerd Street Gamers strengthens the brands’ presence in the gaming and esports community, MIKE AND IKE parent company Just Born Quality Confections said in a release.

“The grassroots nature of the National Championship Series allows for everyday gamers to participate and grow their skillset, allowing MIKE AND IKE to connect with gamers at every level,” said Deb Turoczy, senior manager of consumer engagement at Just Born Quality Confections.

The National Championship Series, currently in its inaugural year, is a multi-city tournament that provides casual and aspiring esports competitors with access to professional equipment and the chance to win cash prizes. The NCS Grand Final will be held this December at the new Localhost Arena in Denver.

As the official partner of the 2020 National Championship Series, MIKE AND IKE will provide Localhost arenas with candy for its guests. Top players throughout the 2020 NCS season will receive the MIKE AND IKE Player of the Month award, and the brand will be prominently featured during broadcasts, as well as on digital and social channels.

Nerd Street Gamers announced that in 2020, NCS will expand to 10 cities and that local tournaments will host prize pools of up to $30K USD.

The MIKE AND IKE partnership announcement comes on the heels of a $12M Series A funding round for Nerd Street Gamers led by discount retailer Five Below. Up to 70 or more 3,000 square foot Localhost spaces, connected to select Five Below stores, will be constructed over the next several years, beginning with a multi-store pilot in 2020.
