Australian esports tournament platform Mogul has announced a partnership with esports organisation and venue operator SARENA.

The deal will assist Mogul in expanding into the Middle Eastern esports market.

As part of the partnership, Mogul’s platform will be used for the ESaudi Professional League (eSPL) and the Electronic Prince Mohamed Bin Salman Cup (eMBS Cup), as well as events organised by SARENA. The platform will also be utilised across SARENA’s gaming cafes across Saudi Arabia in the future.

Hiba AlMubayedh, Executive Manager of SARENA commented on the partnership in a release: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Mogul to provide us with access to their industry-leading technology offering including its tournament management platform and the Organiser Hubs. Through this partnership, we will be able to deliver a better and more attractive offering to gamers, fans, and esports brands across the Middle East, as well as develop a new revenue stream for our operation.”

The two companies have also confirmed that they will work to establish an organiser hub that utilises a subscription model, awarding priority access to SARENA’s tournaments, discounted event tickets, and more. It’s expected to be implemented in Q4 of 2019.

Mick O’Kane, Chief Strategy Officer of Mogul added: “SARENA is a great addition to Mogul’s strategic partner group. These partnerships further validate the value potential we strive to unlock with esports organisations using mogul.gg to engage their communities. Together we hope to grow the partnership in support of their ambitions with SAFEIS and develop a stronger esports community in this key region.”

In May, Mogul announced that it had raised A$3.1 million (£1.63 million) through its latest share placement. The proceeds were confirmed to be used to further support the rollout of its deal with Alliance, which includes the recently announced Dota 2 Alliance League tournament series.

Esports Insider says: Expanding into new regions is always tricky for businesses, though it seems as if Mogul has found a secure partner in SARENA. With some extensive objectives set around esports tournaments for the Middle East, it looks like a decent step forward for the local industry.
