Today, esports organization Misfits Gaming Group announced the launch of esports and gaming incubator and seed fund MSF.IO. The subsidiary is a $10M incubator and fund that aims to support esports and gaming companies looking to scale their business or idea.

According to MSF.IO, the fund is looking to “provide a pathway for innovators to nurture and grow ideas that will help evolve the esports and gaming industry.” While investing capital is one part of that approach, MSF.IO can draw from the Misfits Gaming Group’s experience and history in the industry to help creators grow and develop by providing access to the resources, expertise, and contacts provided by its operational and investor group.

MSF.IO is a global initiative and accepting applicants from around the globe. Successful applicants will join its inaugural class of 2020 with an optional incubation period in the Misfits’ South Florida headquarters from where the company manages its Misfits Gaming League of Legends European Championship squad, Florida Mayhem Overwatch League team, Florida Mutineers Call of Duty League franchise, and other professional esports teams under the Misfits Gaming brand.

“Although there’s plenty of investment at the highest levels of esports, we believe that entrepreneurs and small businesses in the space often struggle and are overlooked by mainstream opportunities for funding,” said Ben Spoont, CEO and co-founder of Misfits Gaming Group, in a release. “To grow the industry, it is critical to support these budding entrepreneurs. Esports doesn’t just happen at the highest end. Innovative ideas from smaller companies challenge us all and create tools, services, and structures that help our industry stay fresh and competitive.”
