Millennial Esports, the company behind the World’s Fastest Gamer competition, has announced plans to open the first dedicated esports racing arena in Miami.

The company has secured $2.8M in private construction funding to build out the 12,000-square-foot facility, which will include 30 Allinsports eRacer simulator setups for esports competition. It will also house a full-sized full-motion simulator that recreates the sensation of driving a real race car.

Millennial Esports hopes to open the facility in 2020 in Miami’s Wynwood entertainment district, with plans to build additional international esports arenas thereafter. The Miami facility will be used to train both esports drivers and traditional racecar drivers.

“Creating our first arena is an important step in Millennial Esports’ goal of taking esports racing to an entirely new level,” said Millennial Esports President and CEO Darren Cox, in a release. “These centers will hold major local and international competitions, be used for both amateur and professional driver training, and also stage major corporate events. Nobody has built anything like this at this level—we want this to be the Formula One of racing esports facilities—and the people of Miami will be the first to enjoy this opportunity to develop their skills.”

Millennial Esports acquired a controlling stake in racing simulator maker Allinsports in August for $6.25M. Allinsports, founded by former Formula One engineer Anton Stipinovich in 2008, manufactures full-sized simulators as well as the esports racing setups used for World’s Fastest Gamer. The competition, created in partnership with automaker McLaren, will begin its “California Dreamin’” tour later this month to crown its second-season champion.
