  • Spanish esports team MAD Lions renewed its technology partnership with the Global Sports Innovation Centre (GSIC).
  • The non-profit association is supported by Microsoft Sport, and supports MAD Lions with business opportunities and innovation projects.
  • Part of the OverActive Media group, MAD Lions competes in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) and FLASHPOINT Counter-Strike tournament series.

MAD Lions has renewed its technology collaboration with the GSIC for the 2020/21 season. A non-profit association in Europe promoted by Microsoft’s Sport division, GSIC will continue “to promote the development and implementation of the most advanced technologies in esports to contribute to the development of the sector,” Samuel “Vegetta777” de Luque, a YouTube creator and partner of MAD Lions, said in a statement.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GSIC’s membership includes sports clubs, federations, companies, and public and private institutions, such as Real Madrid FC, Mediapro, and LaLiga. The association describes part of it’s goal as “fostering networking among the entire sports tech ecosystem.”

MAD Lions was the first esports organization to partner with the GSIC. The Spanish team brand, acquired by OverActive Media in 2019, took the place of Splyce as a long-term partner of the LEC, and a founding partner team of the FLASHPOINT competition in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
