Indian livestreaming platform Loco has signed a long-term partnership with Fnatic that focuses on creating exclusive content around the esports organization’s PUBG MOBILE players and content creators in India.
The objective of this deal will be to create “unique esports content” including tournaments, livestreams, and more, according to the announcement. This is not an exclusive streaming deal; Fnatic players who have already established followings will continue streaming on other platforms.
When asked about what kinds of content will be created for the platform at a press event announcing the partnership, Pocket Aces CEO Anirudh Pandita said that the idea will be to shape how esports content should be produced and presented and to figure out what kind of formats could work for India.
Pocket Aces is the parent company of Loco and focuses on creating digital content for India. The company owns several digital media channels such as FilterCopy and Dice Media, known for its brand of youth-focused content. This includes multiple web series’ and digital shorts, some of which have been picked up by Netflix. The combined subscriber base for both channels on YouTube is more than 10M. In July 2019, Pocket Aces announced an INR 1 Billion ($13M USD) investment from Sequoia India, DSP Group, 3one4 Capital, and other investors.
Earlier this month, Loco announced a separate content deal with Red Bull, which will see Indian esports events sponsored by Red Bull be broadcast on the platform.
