FaZe Clan’s VALORANT Ignition Series Tournament Sees Largest Prize Offering to Date

by Kevin Hitt

FaZe Clan is partnering with Riot Games to create its own Ignition Series tournament stop called the FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational. The 16-team invitation-only, North American event sports a prize pool of $75K USD (provided by FaZe Clan partners Nissan and Verizon) which makes this the largest cash prize package for any North American VALORANT tournament to date. The tournament finals are set to run from Aug. 6-9, with qualifiers starting Aug. 1-2.

FaZe Clan has been exploring, scouting, and signing players to its VALORANT roster and will make its debut during this event. The Los Angeles- and New York-based esports and gaming lifestyle organization has only thus far publicly announced three members of its team. There are plans to announce the other members in the weeks leading up to this event.

The organization is quickly looking to gain more expertise in the livestreaming space by producing events such as the FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational and creating other types of competitive content. In March, FaZe Clan started the Fight2Fund initiative, a weekly online pro-am tournament that raised approximately $125K in four weeks with the proceeds going to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, FaZe Clan also teamed up with Verizon earlier this year for its Pay It Forward Live, another weekly livestream series that supported small businesses affected by COVID-19.

The FaZe Clan VALORANT Invitational will kick off at 2 p.m. PT on Aug. 6. Fans can tune in for the competition on the FaZe, VALORANT, and Nerd Street Gamers Twitch channels. Broadcast production and tournament operations will be overseen by Nerd Street Gamers.
