Esports Insider and Platform are delighted to announce a new date for the diaries, with the commencement of The Esports Watering Hole.
This monthly social for the esports industry will begin on Wednesday 28th August (6pm till late) and be hosted at Platform’s video games and esports bar and restaurant venue, a short walk from Old Street and Shoreditch. You can read more about Platform right here.
Each month, and reminiscent of ESI events of old, we’ll host a tournament on the night. Entrance to the tournament will cost an additional £5, and all proceeds will go straight to SpecialEffect, our official charity partner for the monthly series. We’ll be kicking off the first month with CS:GO Wingman.
Sam Cooke, Managing Director and Co-Founder at Esports Insider stated: “I met Nicolo and Tomaso more than 18 months ago and they’ve done an incredible job to make Platform what it is now in such a short time.
“It’s a fantastic venue; well located, well-equipped, stylish, bright, and with a top menu to boot. In short it’s an ideal space for us, and so we’re very pleased to have found a home at Platform to co-host these monthly socials. The aim is for these to become a reliable and consistent event for those both in and around the esports industry in the UK to gather in a relaxed environment, have some drinks and play some games. And ultimately to give Nicolo a chance to practice his Mario Kart.”
Tomaso Portunato, Co-founder at Platform stated: “We are delighted to partner with ESI for the monthly Esports Watering Hole in our venue in central London. This event will add to the numerous exciting events ESI puts together, and will provide a regular meet up space to encourage collaboration in and around the UK esports industry. We are looking forward to the good times ahead in these monthly meet ups!”
Tom Donegan, Events Coordinator at SpecialEffect said: “The team at ESI were amongst our first friends in the esports community and it was through attending their networking forums that we got to know many fantastic companies and teams who have gone on to support us in recent years. We are honoured to have been chosen as their charity partner for this latest Watering Hole events series. The money raised will go directly towards funding our work enabling more people with disabilities to enjoy the magic of video games.”
Those that are interested in coming along should secure their tickets ASAP, as capacity is limited. For just £5 it includes a drink, pizza and some games.
