ESPN2 to Air 12-Hour Esports Programming Block

by Trent Murray

This Sunday (April 5), ESPN will run a 12-hour programming block of esports content on ESPN2 dubbed “ESPN Esports Day.” The content will be a mix of live events and coverage recorded over the last year, such as ESPN’s own Apex Legends Pro Am which took place in 2019.

Recaps and highlights from Madden and Rocket League esports events will air alongside live coverage of the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix and the NBA 2K Players Tournament (a competition featuring NBA stars). Additionally, ESPN’s agreement with Rocket League maker Psyonix includes a live broadcast of the Spring Series North American Grand Finals on April 26, which will also air on ESPN2.

ESPN2 first aired live esports competition back in 2015 with the collegiate Heroes of the Storm competition Heroes of the Dorm, and had previously aired a documentary about Dota 2
