Epics.gg and streaming management firm Loaded have released a digital collectible card and sticker set, featuring some of the top gaming influencers. Over the last 12 months, the two companies commissioned custom artwork and photography for the digital items, which feature the likes of Jaryd “Summit1G” Lazar, Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, and Ben “Dr. Lupo” Lupo.
Unlike Epics.gg’s previous Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sets, the cards don’t feature stats for each personality, but do link to highlight clips, and include digital signatures. “When we started Epics we naturally felt that streamers would be very collectible and that a set for Twitch talent would be a lot of fun to make,” Mark Donovan, co-founder of Epics.gg, told The Esports Observer.
“Just like our CS:GO cards, all of our items are unique digital objects—which means they are all separately tracked including their entire ownership history and they also each have a unique mint number showing the batch and number that the card was produced in.”
During launch week, Epics will donate 30% of its proceeds from streamer collection sales to charities helping to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In partnership with fundraising tool Tiltify, donations will be split evenly between Feeding America and American Red Cross.
Each streamer will also be featured as a headliner throughout the season, with their own special set that features unique art, digital signatures, and rare reward cards. There will also be regular free and paid content drops throughout the season including video clip cards, stickers, limited edition cards, ect.
Epics.gg launched in 2018, raising $2M USD from investors including BITKRAFT, Courtside Ventures (backed by Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers), Hersh Interactive, Greycroft, Polychain, and Imagination Capital. Acquired by Popdog in 2018, Loaded represents some of the most followed gaming talents.
