Tournament organiser DreamHack has entered a content partnership with German sports network Sport1.
The deal will see five of DreamHack’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League events broadcast live on eSports1 throughout 2019.
Michael Van Driel, Chief Product Officer of DreamHack shared his thoughts in a statement: “We are delighted to have signed this partnership with SPORT1 which will make our CS:GO and Rocket League tournaments accessible to a wider German-speaking public. SPORT1 is a professional and well-known sports network and their dedicated esports channel, eSports1, issimply a perfect fit from DreamHack.”
Sport1 has obtained platform-neutral, TV-exclusive media rights in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for DreamHack Masters events in Dallas and Malmö and the DreamHack Pro Circuit in Dallas, Valencia, and Montreal.
Daniel von Busse, Board Member of Sport1 GmbH commented: “With DreamHack, we welcome on board our next strong content partner to eSports1, with their considerable experience of showcasing major eSports events. With the new partnership, eSports1 now offers live events from all currently popular eSports games. DreamHack Masters is one of the top event series in CS:GO – our viewers can look forward to some first-class entertainment. We are convinced that even the still relatively new Rocket League will also be a hit with the community.”
Sport1 announced plans to launch eSports1 in August last year and has since entered a two-year deal with ESL, a multi-year partnership with Overwatch League, and a broadcast deal with eFootball.Pro.
Esports Insider says: Sport1 has rapidly been building up a solid roster of broadcasting deals for its esports-specific channel and DreamHack is a decent grab.
