Last year, Lupo participated in a similar activation with Hershey’s at TwitchCon, which included livestreams and meet-and-greets to promote a new candy bar. Earlier this year, the streamer signed a sponsorship deal with insurance company State Farm, the first individual player deal for the company.
Lupo is among a select handful of top streamers such as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Mike “shroud” Grzesiek that have gathered the bulk of recent individual non-endemic esports brand deals. The explosive success of Fortnite coupled with Blevins’ ubiquitous presence in news coverage and on talk shows regarding the phenomenon caused a boom in non-endemic partnerships for these top streamers beginning in mid-2018, bringing in companies such as The Hershey Company, Postmates, Walmart, and events such as Lollapalooza.
