The Overwatch League’s Seoul Dynasty has announced that its scheduled 2020 home matches will be played at the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, South Korea. This marks the first time the DDP will host a global esports event, co-hosting in conjunction with the Seoul Business Agency, a support agency funded by the Seoul City Hall.

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza is an internationally recognized venue for fashion and streetwear exhibits and shows.

“It’s an honor to play our Overwatch League 2020 Homestands at DDP, a landmark of Seoul and the dynamics of Korea,” said Ho-cheol Lee, General Manager of Seoul Dynasty. “It is a great chance for us to introduce Seoul to many global fans who support Seoul Dynasty enthusiastically, as well as those who are not yet esport fans — there will be lots of experiences they will enjoy.”

This is the first year that the Overwatch League adopted the new home and away format where teams will travel to away matches as well as host. Each team will host a minimum of two homestands to a maximum of five. Seoul Dynasty will play its Overwatch League home games twice over two days, from March 7-8, 2020 and from May 9-10, 2020.

The March home games will feature seven teams from the Eastern Division which include Hangzhou Spark, San Francisco Shock, Chengdu Hunters, Dallas Fuel, Los Angeles Gladiators, Guangzhou Charge, and Vancouver Titans. In May the home games will feature  Guangzhou Charge, Shanghai Dragons, Chengdu Hunters and Hangzhou Spark.

During the Overwatch League’s first two seasons, matches were played at the Blizzard Arena, which, up until 2014, was the studio in which the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and later Jay Leno was filmed.
