- Capcom has restructured its esports and media licensing businesses, forming a new Capcom Media Ventures entity to comprise both.
- Capcom Media Ventures will handle all esports efforts outside of Japan, including the Street Fighter V Capcom Pro Tour.
- The Los Angeles-based company will also oversee entertainment licensing for productions based on Capcom’s myriad game franchises.

has established Capcom Media Ventures, a new entity that will comprise the company’s esports and entertainment licensing businesses.Capcom Media Ventures was formed on March 1, and will handle Capcom’s esports interests outside of Japan. That includes the Capcom Pro Tour, which is currently in its seventh season now with Street Fighter V
According to a release, Capcom also plans to launch college and amateur leagues later in 2019. The company will also produce and license movie and TV content based on the publisher’s large stable of franchises, which also includes Resident Evil, Mega Man, and Monster Hunter. A 3D-animated film, Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, is set to debut this year.

“Los Angeles has become a major hub for esports production and it’s one of the global centers of Street Fighter fandom,” said Capcom Media Ventures CEO Midori Yuasa, in a release. “Our presence in the city gives us intimate access to those resources and community thought leaders. In addition, there are obvious benefits for our media licensing team to be based so close to our Hollywood partners.”
