Splyce and Toronto Defiant parent OverActive Media (OAM) today announced a strategic partnership with Canadian communications company Bell.
Bell has acquired a minority interest in OverActive Media as part of the multi-year deal, and has also been named OAM’s first founding marketing partner. Terms were not disclosed.
As a result of the deal, Bell is now OAM’s exclusive telecommunications partner and a team sponsor, and the companies will work together on content, activations, event production, and both traditional and online advertising. The partnership extends to all current and future Canadian-based OAM franchises, as well as all Bell brands and subsidiaries.

In those efforts, we have been mindful and purposeful in aligning ourselves with premium brands, and today we are doing just that,” said OAM president and CEO Chris Overholt, in a release. “I’d like to welcome Bell to the OAM family as our first founding partner. We look forward to collaborating and working together in the years to come.”

OverActive Media has added other prominent investors in recent months, including musician Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and hospitality entrepreneur David Grutman. Last month, OAM acquired Spanish organization Mad Lions Esports Club as well as events production company MediaXP , the latter of which formed the basis of its new OAM LIVE division.
In addition to having franchise spots in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) with Splyce and the Overwatch League with the Toronto Defiant, OverActive Media also recently acquired the Toronto slot in Activision Blizzard’s upcoming, geolocated Call of Duty franchise league.
