Today, North American esports organization Beastcoast announced that Four Loko, the line of flavored adult beverages, as its newest sponsor. This marks the first entry into the gaming space by Phusion Projects, the parent company of Four Loko.
As part of the activation, Four Loko will be featured in a series of online “happy hours” via live streaming platform Twitch to bring together Beastcoast’s fans and the team’s roster of fighting game professionals in titles such as Mortal Kombat 11, Dragon Ball FighterZ, the Super Smash Bros. franchise, and others.
“This new partnership with Four Loko means a lot to me. In the fighting game community, it is common for newer players to use “fake” partnership tags as a joke or as something they would aim for in the future,” said Steve “Lord Knight” Barthelemy, a Dragon Ball FighterZ player for Beastcoast. “Four Loko was actually one of the original ones I used. ‘It’ll happen one day!’ I used to say – and sure enough, it happened.”
