Activision Blizzard has partnered with PepsiCo brands Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL, and Doritos to host a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare pro-am tournament on Sept. 14.
The Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL Celebrity Pro-am will be held at the Thunder Esports Center in Long Beach, California, and streamed live from Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter.
Participants will include pro players Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, and Aydan “Aydan” Conrad. Celebrities will include NBA athletes D’Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and singer/actress Ajiona Alexus (Empire, 13 Reasons Why).
Each team will play traditional 6v6 multiplayer matches, as well as the game’s new Gunfight 2v2 mode ahead of Modern Warfare’s Oct. 25 launch date.
The winning team will receive $25K, which they can donate to either the AbleGamers Charity or the Call of Duty Endowment. An additional $10K will be donated to the second organization.
Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL Celebrity Pro-am continues a long-standing partnership between Activision and PepsiCo to promote new videogame titles. TwitchCon 2018 featured a Doritos Bowl tournament for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Mountain Dew AMP GAME FUEL is targeted towards gamers and first debuted at this season’s first Call of Duty World League (CWL) event in Las Vegas in December 2018.
