The Madison Square Garden Company has appointed Dan Fleeter as its Head of Esports and as the Chief Operating Officer of Counter Logic Gaming.
Fleeter most recently served as Vice President of Corporate Development for The Madison Square Garden Company and was already on Counter Logic Gaming’s board of directors.
Andrew Lustgarten, President of The Madison Square Garden Company discussed the appointment in a release: “Dan has been at the forefront and played a key role in the growth of MSG’s presence in the esports industry and we know he is the perfect fit for this leadership position.”
In his new role, Fleeter will oversee all business operations for Counter Logic Gaming, working closely alongside Kristin Bernert, Senior Vice President, Business Operations at MSG Sports and George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis, Founder and President of Counter Logic Gaming.
Before joining The Madison Square Garden Company in March 2015, Fleeter worked for the likes of Major League Baseball, Deloitte Consulting, and McKinsey & Company.
He also commented on his new venture: “It’s an incredible honor to take on this role for MSG. I began working at MSG in 2015, right before CLG won the NA LCS Summer Split in front of a sold-out Arena and I know firsthand that this is one of the best esports organizations in the world. I’ve enjoyed working with George, CLG players and staff over the last several years and admire what they have built and cannot wait to help continue that growth.”
Esports Insider says: Considering Fleeter played a part in bringing MSG and CLG together, it’s clear that he’s already aware of esports so that’s half of the worry eliminated on our end. More and more these days, we see individuals with no prior esports experience or knowledge fall into positions of power within esports organisations and companies so this is a nice, and welcome, change from that.
