Dignitas Database-Link-e1521645463907 founder Michael “ODEE” O’Dell, who departed the organization earlier this month, has joined global esports infrastructure company ReKTGlobal Database-Link-e1521645463907 and its esports team Rogue Database-Link-e1521645463907 as chief gaming officer.

“I am extremely excited to join ReKTGlobal,” said O’Dell, in a release. “The vision they have is exactly what I was looking for as I continue to help build esports and more. Amish [Shah, co-founder] and Dave [Bialek, CEO] have put something special together that is evolving fast and I cannot wait to help with various aspects of the business. For me it was the perfect fit, as the company has big plans and a global perspective. I am absolutely buzzing I cannot wait to get to work with such an inspiring group of people.”

O’Dell last served as general manager for Dignitas before departing on July 3. He founded the organization as Team Dignitas in 2003, and it was acquired by the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers in 2006. Dignitas dropped the “Team” from its name and introduced a rebranding in 2018. Shortly before O’Dell’s departure, Dignitas announced that it had merged with Clutch Gaming Database-Link-e1521645463907, and will rebrand Clutch’s League of Legends Championship Series Database-Link-e1521645463907 (LCS) team as Dignitas starting in 2020.

ReKTGlobal announced a $10.8M USD Series A funding round in January, and has added music industry investors such as Nicky Romero, Marco ‘Tainy’ Masís, and Lex Borrero in recent months.
