  • The Los Angeles BLAST Pro Series tournament will feature metal band Asking Alexandria, the first musical performer in the series’ history.
  • The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament will feature six teams and a $250K USD prize pool, and take place on July 12-13.
  • RFRSH Entertainment recently announced a season format for the BLAST Pro Series, culminating in a $500K Global Final in December.

British heavy metal band Asking Alexandria will be the featured musical performer at the upcoming Los Angeles stop of the BLAST Pro Series, owner RFRSH Entertainment Database-Link-e1521645463907

announced this week.

This is the first musical partnership for the BLAST Pro Series. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Database-Link-e1521645463907 (CS:GO) tournament takes place July 12-13 at the Galen Center, and is the fourth event in the 2019 series. As with the other BLAST Pro Series events before December’s Global Final, it will feature six teams battling it out for a share of a $250K prize pool.

Asking Alexandria has released five albums since forming in 2006, and according to a release, the band has more than 10 million combined social media followers and has notched more than 528 million song streams to date via Spotify. The band’s song, “When The Lights Come On,” will be the tournament’s official song.

“When we wrote that song, we wrote it specifically with arena crowds in mind,” said lead guitarist Ben Bruce, in a release. “The whole song itself is about that feeling and about that moment when those lights come on and the show starts. It only exists there and then. That’s the kind of energy that these esports events are capturing and creating now.”

Musical performances have become increasingly commonplace at large-scale esports events. Also this week, DreamHack Database-Link-e1521645463907

announced several performers for DreamHack Dallas, including electronic dance musicians Seven Lions, Kuuro, and Grant, as well as metal bands Trivium, Cane Hill, and Hyro the Hero. DreamHack Dallas takes place from May 31-June 2.
