Luminosity Gaming Adds Rapper Tory Lanez to Ownership Group

  • Grammy-nominated rapper and singer Tory Lanez has joined Luminosity Gaming’s ownership group, and will serve as a global ambassador for the team.
  • Lanez will create content for the team, interact with fans, and otherwise lend his expertise from the music industry.
  • Other music acts that have become team co-owners over the last year include Drake, The Weeknd, and Imagine Dragons.

Canadian rapper and singer Tory Lanez is the latest investor in Luminosity Gaming Database-Link-e1521645463907

, joining the organization’s ownership group and becoming a global ambassador for the team.

The Grammy-nominated artist will work with Luminosity Gaming to create content and interact with fans, as well as develop concepts informed by his experience in the music industry. Lanez is signed to Mad Love Records/Interscope Records.

“Anyone who knows me knows I like to compete at the highest level in anything that I am a part of,” said Lanez in a release. “We have some amazing things in the works, and I’m excited to be a part of the crossover between music and gaming.”

(OWL) team in partnership with The Aquilini Group. In March, Aquilini GameCo Inc. announced that it had raised $25M CAD ($18.7M USD) to acquire Luminosity Gaming, as well as fund other initiatives. Aquilini GameCo will perform a reverse takeover of J55 Capital Corporation as part of the deal.

Lanez is the latest musician to invest in an esports team. Earlier this month, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye joined the ownership group of OverActive Media Database-Link-e1521645463907

Last fall, Aubrey “Drake” Drake joined the ownership group of 100 Thieves Database-Link-e1521645463907, while members of rock band Imagine Dragons became co-owners of Rogue Database-Link-e1521645463907 earlier last year.
