Australian esports organisation ORDER has partnered with Monash University to form a team that will compete in League of Legends tournament Oceanic Challenger Series.
Students from the Australian university will represent ORDER’s Academy team in the OCS for 2019.
Chris Derrick, CEO of ORDER discussed the deal: “We’re really happy to partner with TeamMonash for the OCS. ORDER’s philosophy of high performance training, preparation and player management are aligned with TeamMonash’s own approach. We’ve been excited to discuss esports with the different faculties at Monash and look forward to growing the partnership across ORDER’s other teams.”
The newly-signed players will have access to physical training facilities, sports psychology and nutritional sport, and other benefits from the deal between ORDER and Team Monash. The team will also practice against ORDER’s OPL roster to prepare for the competition.
Eric Lee, Manager of ORDER OCS also commented: “Like our other student athletes, our League of Legends team are expected to balance their study and competition commitments. However, with the help of the support programs provided by both Team Monash and ORDER, our players will have all the necessary tools they need to succeed.”
As well as competing in the OPL and OCS, ORDER fields rosters in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Rocket League, World of Warcraft, and a collection of fighting games. At the top of this year, the organisation brought on Alienware as its exclusive hardware partner.
Esports Insider says: It’s great to see ORDER present an opportunity for students to get real competitive experience within a structured, supported ecosystem ran by Riot Games. This will give the students more than just a taste as to what it’s like to compete at a high level and could well help to mold the next wave of Australian talent in League of Legends.
