Ubisoft Promises “Structural Shift” After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

by Graham Ashton

French game company Ubisoft Entertainment has detailed “a structural shift” in response to recent allegations of sexual misconduct against multiple executives and senior game development staff.

In an internal letter, CEO Yves Guillemot outlined measures including the appointment of Lidwine Sauer as head of workplace culture, and the creation of a head of diversity and inclusion position. As well as feedback programs with its global employees, Ubisoft is continuing its third-party led investigations and will work with whistleblowing platform Whispli to open a confidential alert platform.

One of the largest publicly traded game companies worldwide, Ubisoft placed executives Tommy François and Maxime Béland on leave after numerous allegations surfaced from multiple accusers on Twitter.

Known for franchises including Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, and tactical shooter esport Rainbow Six Siege, the publisher is grappling with this indictment as it unveiled Hyper Scape, a new free-to-play battle royale shooter to rival the likes of Epic Games’ Fortnite
