Brazillian esports organization LOUD announced Sunday the formation of a team to compete in Fortnite. LOUD primarily competes in Garena’s mobile game, Free Fire. Before dedicating its efforts exclusively to Free Fire, the organization had invested in Vainglory, a mobile game from Super Evil Megacorp.
LOUD CEO Bruno “Playhard” Bittencourt told The Esports Observer that the investment in and formation of a team dedicated to Fortnite is part of an overall strategy to grow the audience on the organization’s channels.
“The demographics of our content channels and Fortnite audience are similar,” he said.
According to Bittencourt, LOUD’s venture into the new modality, in addition to bringing in new fans, can also foster new sponsorships and commercial deals.
Brazil still does not have a structured competitive Fortnite scene; the competitions are still isolated and do not qualify for world championships. Bittencourt explains that, as it was with Free Fire, this may be another opportunity that has not yet been explored in the country, and the formation of the new team will allow LOUD to grow along with the development of the Fortnite esports scene in Brazil.
LOUD is one of the most prominent esports organizations in Brazil. Recently it became the first in esports organization in the world to break 1B views on YouTube.
