T1 Worlds Skins Are Confirmed

by Bence Loksa

While there’s still some time until the release of the T1 Worlds skins, we finally know which champions each member will pick!

The 2023 League of Legends World Championship ended on November 19th when the legendary T1 and Faker took down TheShy and Weibo Gaming in an overwhelming 3-0. This marks the 4th time the Unkillable Demon King put the crown on his head, but only the first occasion that his teammates, Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi and Keria could lift the Summoner’s Cup.

As customary, the best team in the world gets to pick 1 skin each for their favourite champions. SK Telecom T1 and T1 already have 3 sets of skins, but after a 6 year hiatus, the current roster can choose again. The community has been trying to guess which skins each member will pick – but the wait is over, as the 2023 Worlds T1 skins have been confirmed!

Top – Choi “Zeus” Woo-je

The MVP of the Worlds Finals, Zeus ended up choosing Jayce. Even though Zeus had 3 champions in the running for his skin – Yone, Aatrox and Jayce – Aatrox received a skin and a Prestige thanks to Kingen getting the MVP title last year, while Yone just got a new outfit with a Prestige iteration with the release of the Heartsteel skinline. His decision landed on Jayce as he has the least amount of skins, and while Zeus had more memorable Yone and Aatrox matches, Jayce has been his signature champion for a long time – and now he will have a signature skin!

Jungle – Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun

While there’s already an SKT T1 Lee Sin skin, Riot couldn’t say no to Oner after what he did at Worlds. Even though he played more Jarvan IV and Rell than the Blind Monk, he was explosive on the champion. According to some sources, Oner wants to convince the skin team to let his Lee skin fight the old one during the recall animation – talk about a new generation!

Mid – Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok

It finally happened: Faker will get his Ahri skin that he wanted for years. Even though Faker already has 3 skins – Syndra, Zed and Ryze – he always wanted a skin for the Nine-Tailed Fox, but the champion was never really in the pro meta, even less so around Worlds. After she received here mid-scope update, Ahri rose in popularity among pros, becoming one of the most played champions in the midlane. While Faker tried to hide his pick initially, everyone knew who he would choose – and it’s gonna be cute!

ADC – Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong

Gumayusi had the deepest pool to choose from, as he played 10 different champions at Worlds. His pick ended up being Jinx, as that was the pick he demolished Bilibili Gaming with during the Main Event of Worlds.

Never thought I’d live the day when Bard gets a World Championship skin, but Keria proved me wrong – after proving to me that Bard is a viable pick in proplay. Even though Keria wanted a cute skin for Lux for years now, sadly he couldn’t play the character at Worlds, and even though he reportedly asked Riot Games to make an exception, they didn’t let him choose her. His second best option was Bard, who he picked 3 times with a 100% success rate, which is incredible, as Bard is regarded as one of the most hit or miss champions in the game.

So far, there have been no reports or confirmations about when these skins will drop. The DRX skins for Deft, Kingen, Zeka, Pyosik and BeryL dropped on June 2nd, roughly 7 months after last year’s Worlds, so we can expect a similar wait time. What we do know is that this skinline will be incredibly successful: it has T1’s name attached to it, as well as very popular champions like Jinx, Ahri and Lee Sin. Keep an eye on ESTNN for further details about the T1 Worlds skins!
