The PUBG MOBILE World League has signed Qualcomm Technologies as its new title sponsor for Season Zero. The currently ongoing World League Season Zero is split into two divisions – East and West – with 20 teams each. It has been tailored to take place during the ongoing pandemic and Qualcomm will be the first sponsor to join the tournament. The tournament has a prize pool of $850K USD split evenly between the two divisions.
The World League was preceded by regional competitions such as the PUBG MOBILE Pro Leagues, some of which had individual sponsors as well. PMPL South Asia was sponsored by Airtel and Mountain Dew while PMPL Americas took on Mountain Dew GameFuel as a sponsor. In 2019, both the PUBG MOBILE Club Open Spring and Fall season finals were sponsored by smartphone manufacturer, VIVO. Qualcomm is a U.S. electronics manufacturer that is widely known for its mobile technology and chipsets. While Snapdragon doesn’t primarily sell a direct-to-consumer product, the partnership is to promote its Snapdragon Elite Gaming technology.
The World League began on July 11 and will end on Aug. 9 following which the Fall Season of the PUBG MOBILE esports circuit will begin. The year is expected to roll up to the PUBG MOBILE World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in December, depending on the situation with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
