DreamHack and Mastercard have announced a partnership which will make credit card company the official payment partner of the Northern League of Legends Championship during the 2020 season. The brand will also offer viewer rewards through a “Priceless Play of the Match” incentive program.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
DreamHack has made several moves to support the NLC, a regional league covering Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the U.K., and Ireland. It serves as the top competition for several ecosystems within that region as part of Riot Games’ European Regional Leagues system. Telia partnered with DreamHack through 2021 to support the league, and the esports organizer secured Currys PC World as a sponsor for the U.K. League of Legends Championship, which feeds into the NLC.
The deal also expands Mastercard’s presence within League of Legends esports. The brand began its partnership with Riot Games for LoL esports in late 2018 and has since expanded from being a global event partner to also directly sponsoring the League of Legends Championship Series.
