The Dota 2 DPC Regional Finals for the North American region have ended, here’s everything that happened.
At the end of the second day, we saw Evil Geniuses come on top against 4 Zoomers with a 2-0 score. In the Upper Bracket Finals, Quincy Crew struggled to win against TSM who qualified for Grand Finals with a score of 2-1. Let’s have a look at what the last day has in store of us through a recap.
Quincy Crew Vs Evil Geniuses
Game One
Right off the bat, EG controlled the game with early rotations and important kills. At around 12 minutes, they were 4k ahead in net worth. EG were quick to increase the gap between them and QC. At around 20 minutes, EG had a 11k gold lead along with an Aegis to push high ground. QC were so battered that they couldn’t defend high ground and lost 24-4 in 24 minutes.
Game Two
EG started the second match with a positive momentum. They were aggressive and had about 3k gold lead at 10 minutes into the game. However, even after EG were ahead, QC still had space and time to come back. At around 25 minutes into the game, a huge fight broke out which gave way to QC. With Templar Assassin’s damage, QC could pull off the fight and an Aegis. Once QC were ahead, it was increasingly difficult for EG to turn the game. QC won with a score of 32-22.
Game Three
EG dominated QC in the third match. In the early minutes they were 3k gold ahead and steadily kept increasing the pressure. At around 20 minutes, EG took the Aegis with no fight from QC. After taking objectives and creating pressure around the map, a huge fight broke out, which confirmed the fate of the game. EG took down the high ground defenses at around 32 minutes. The final score was 43-9 in a one-sided match.
TSM Vs Evil Geniuses
Our Grand Final saw a thrilling Best of 5 as both TSM and Evil Geniuses gave it everything they had to take the crown.
Game One
We saw both teams level pegging in the early minutes of the first match. EG had a slight advantage around the 17-minute mark and they converted it into an Aegis. At around 22 minutes, EG had a 7k gold advantage and forced TSM to fight them. However, even after getting some beating from EG, TSM were not very far away. Things turned negative for TSM after a poor start at around 39 minutes into the game. With all cores dead without buybacks, TSM lost a set of barracks. At 46 minutes, we saw TSM take the Aegis, while EG did not know about what was going on. After Roshan, TSM pushed mid and after taking almost two sets of barracks, they found themselves in the middle of a forced fight from EG. However, TSM got out in time and took another Roshan. Another huge fight broke out at around 56 minutes in the match. TSM had the Aegis advantage, but most of their heroes fell in the battle. EG won the match after a straight push. The score was 27-37 in the end.
Game Two
The second match was also very upbeat right from the start. However, it was TSM who took the lead first. With a 6k gold lead at around 36 minutes, TSM took the Roshan. EG could not stop TSM, who had a huge advantage. Around 40 minutes in the game, a last ditch fight broke out. EG lost the fight and the match with a score of 25-33.
Game Three
Our next map saw another aggressive game from the early stage, both teams fought hard to get a substantial lead. By 23 minutes, TSM were ahead by 6k gold. However, EG turned the game when they won two consecutive fights and took Roshan. EG’s Terrorblade was a huge source of damage and TSM were finding it difficult to burst him with so many disables in EG’s lineup. TSM lost the game 25-20 in 44 minutes.
Game Four
The fourth match saw both teams on the passive side in the early game. The match was anyone’s taking even in the mid-game. However, as the match transitioned into the late game, it was becoming increasingly difficult for EG to deal with Morphling. TSM won the fourth match with a score of 25-11 in 38 minutes.
Game Five
The deciding match started with EG making a few mistakes and giving TSM an opportunity to get pick offs. That said, EG were not behind in the game and picked up the first Aegis at around 18 minutes. However, they couldn’t use the advantage properly and got caught in a terrible fight. Losing three heroes to TSM, EG were put on the back foot. After enjoying the advantage, TSM picked up the second Aegis and marched towards a win. EG couldn’t do much in fights except hang in there with Troll Warlord’s ultimate, but once all abilities were cast, the heroes had little to offer. TSM won 3-2 against EG in the Grand Finals, winning the Regional competition.
