C9 vs 100T LCS Summer 2022 Finals Recap

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

Cloud9 are the LCS Summer 2022 Champions with a dominating 3-0 win over 100 Thieves.

C9 vs 100T Game 1 (1-0)

What a draft in Game 1 with Nocturne/Kennen for C9 and Malphite/Soraka for 100T. And it was Blaber’s Nocturne who was making the early plates. He got the first blood in the mid lane and a top kill with a dive, but 100T answered with the first drake and first Herald. Despite C9 keeping a steady 1.5k gold lead, 100T kept stacking drakes even with their late game oriented comp. But after a great 5v5 from C9 at the third drake, 100T couldn’t contest and let C9 tie them in drake count. Unfortunately for the Thieves, they did not have time to scale for another drake as C9 just went for a Baron and aced 100T after securing it. Even with the death timers not being too long, it was enough to give C9 a 1-0 lead in the series.

  • Teams: C9 – 100T
  • Time: 27:35
  • Kills: 13 – 3
  • Turrets: 8 – 2
  • Gold: 54k – 43k
  • Dragons: 2 – 2
  • Barons: 1 – 0

C9 vs 100T Game 2 (2-0)

Curveballs in draft kept coming in Game 2 as well with Zilean and Fiora/Jax matchup. This time around, 100T was the team that got an early lead. After a slow start to the game, they managed to get a good kill trade at the first Herald, as well as secure the objective. 100T was so close to making the game impossible or C9 after a great teamfight, but Blaber found a great engage before the second drake and brought his team back into the game. The fight seemed to turn the momentum around as C9 found two more back-to-back fights and got themselves a Baron.

The Baron siege was also explosive from C9 as they dove the bot lane tier four to get four kills and two inhibitors. When the buff ended C9 had extended their gold lead to over 9k. And after getting one more ace around the Baron spawn just a minute later C9 ended the game thanks to a full jungle domination from Blaber.

  • Teams: 100T – EG
  • Time: 24:48
  • Kills: 6 – 22
  • Turrets: 2 – 8
  • Gold: 38.5k – 50k
  • Dragons: 1 – 1
  • Barons: 0 – 1

C9 vs 100T Game 3 (3-0)

A hectic start to Game 3 with a red buff invade from C9. They managed to get the first blood with it on their support, but it set Blaber behind. The early game continued very back and forth both in kills and objectives, Herald for 100T and first drake for C9. 100T once again was the team that was moving around the map being proactive, but once again C9 did much better once the teamfights started and they took a 4k gold lead while putting themselves on Ocean Soul point. Another ace from C9 then secured them a Baron and the Soul, with gold lead nearing 10k. But the Baron buff wasn’t enough to end the game on the first try. Still, the end wasn’t far off as C9 did not surprise and dove the mid lane tier three. The fight was not close with Berserker getting a massive quadra kill, and giving C9 an LCS championship.

LCS Summer 2022 Finals MVP

Every member of Cloud9 had an amazing series. But the standout players have to be Blaber who found engage after engage and was the engine of the team, or Berserker who was the constant carry for this team.

In the end, despite the MVP chants for the now three time champion jungler, the award went to Berserker, who came into LCS at the start of Spring 2022 and dominated at the end of his rookie split. Cloud9 ADC finished the series on a 23/1/24 scoreline, with nearly 1k DPM.
