What we want from Dota 2 Update

by Ben Hill

Fall is coming, so it’s time to be excited about Dota 2’s upcoming update The Outlanders Valve promised to release this autumn.

The present patch for Dota 2 has been meta-defined. Whilst unconventional picks such as carrying Io, supporting Invoker, and offline Ogre Magi were introduced, it had an extremely weak carriage pool.

Regardless of whether the early or late Valve time is the case, fans can expect the changes to be brought by the largest post-TI patch. Here are some of the most important changes in the Outlanders update of Dota 2.

Safe carriage pool in lane is weak

Now the carriage pool is quite awful. Although no one wants to relive the reign of terror of Troll Warlord and Sniper 6.83, most typical safe laners are heavily powerless.
Even in advance of started, stable picks such as Juggernaut, Slark and Lifestealer were nerfed. IceFrog hammered alchemist, the hero of TI9 most contested and Faceless Void. Heroes like Drow Ranger, Luna and Medusa are slow to get started and easy to beat on the street.

Hard trucks shouldn’t, of course, be big laners. But it comes to the point that players choose to play safe off-lanes like Night Stalker, Pudge, and Bristleback. Although it is nice to see variety and changes in roles, most agility carries (and Lifestealer) are not up to date.

Usually new items are displayed in Post-TI patches with new items. They often introduced new mechanics to the game, such as the mechanic of damage to immunity Octarine Core’s Spell Lifesteal or Aeon Disk. Many were meta-defining objects and were taken to counter certain heroes.

The post-TI introductions of the last year included two small, Tarrasque ring and crown items, allowing Kaya to join Sange or Yasha even for more customizable applications and the healing amplification mechanic for Holy Locket. The Holy Locket was the only one that introduced a new mechanic and, because of the easy contrast to the spirit boat, was usually thrown away as one of the worst items in the game.

Very few status effects are left without a replicate of an item. Mechanics such as Leash, which prevents movement and teleport, fear that causes foes to flee to the fountain or Taunt, which forces enemies to attack the target. All these are weaker than a good old stun and can be transformed into items to make it possible for players to have more options to counter certain heroes.

The release date of Pangolier & Dark Willow after TI7 was exciting because in a year Valve added two heroes and introduced new mechanics. Pangolier is the first hero to spell Swashbuckle vector-specific, and Dark Willow is the first to have immunity against attacks and spells in Shadow Realm.

Last year Grimstoke had an innovative kit with the ultimate one-of-a-kind, Soulbind, which replaces one-target flavours. Mars was a relatively simple hero who had a powerful, walled ultima in the Blood Arena which prevented movement and blocked off-road attacks.

In the Dota 2 scene, Snapfire and Void Spirit will almost certainly wave. Snapfire seems to be a hero who handles damage and bakes buffs into cookies, while Void Spirit seems to be in charge of spatial manipulation. The community is looking forward with a breath for IceFrog and its team.

The change from solo and party MMR to core and support MMR has fundamentally changed Dota 2 matches. Matchmaking modifications to support high MMR solo queues. The overall quality of matches has greatly improved. Professionals and high-ranking immortals play parties together, increasing average ranks and eliminating MMR disparity by making players parties.

While the gameplay is good for viewers and fans, immortal players who like solo queues are affected. Recently, Clinton solo Jaron ‘ monkeys-forever’ queued over nine hours before he found a match and several others complained of the unreasonable queues.

If Valve doubles his focus on party matchmaking, solos may be a thing of the past. There aren’t sufficient players to have a viable player pool.
One option Valve can consider is to introduce a high MMR players official in-house league. Since the days of the original Defense of the Ancients, passionate players have kept their own ligaments in a community of committed players hosting and playing matches.

While it is somewhat obsolete, Valve could help players to find each other and connect a league that was sanctioned and maintained. The league could help players meet each other in a chat room instead of a facial machine pulling these people together for matches.
It would definitely take players and Valve to work more, however, it would certainly have been a half-day queuing.
