The Top Carries in Patch 7.22b

ESTNN takes you through the top Dota 2 carries in Patch 7.22b.

Patch 7.22 was definitely a breath of fresh air for the Dota 2 community. Many people are now calling it the Scepter patch, simply because every single hero in the game right now can purchase an Aghanim Scepter. Shortly after 7.22 released, 7.22b came to life. It, however, only contained some minor tweaks to a few heroes. Let’s see which are some of the best carry heroes right now.

The Rogue Knight is definitely one of the strongest heroes around right now. Besides in pubs, Sven was also one of the most successful heroes in ESL One Birmingham. One of his strongest skills is his terrific farming capability. Given a good start, Sven can snowball out of control in less than 20 minutes. His cleaving ability also allows him to clear the Jungle camps very fast.

What’s more, since he is a strength hero, he is very tanky even without having that many items. This gives him the ability to “absorb” early game harassment and not worry about being one-shot later on. Also, let’s not forget the fact that he is a very active hero. This means that Sven is able to take team fights at pretty much any stage of the game.

Last, but certainly not least, the Rogue Knight also has a very reliable stun.

When you’re thinking about a late-game hero, Spectre is undoubtedly one of the first names that come to your mind. Given a good start, the hero can become a nightmare to deal with during the later stages of the game. That’s why we can often see professional teams picking her if they decide to have some sort of a turtle lineup.

Of course, Spectre’s gameplay has also changed a lot. There are many players who decide to have a more active approach to the game with her by getting early-game efficient items in order to take as many team fights as possible.

In addition to the things mentioned above, Spectre is a very good fit due to the fact that she is capable of catching enemy heroes. Drow Ranger was also one of the most popular heroes prior to this patch and as we know, Spectre is a known counter to her. The same applies to Sniper.

Having a global ultimate also means that the hero can just safely farm on a lane. As soon as the team fight occurs, she can just pop her ult and suddenly Spectre can turn the tide of a teamfight.

Troll Warlord

Troll is in a similar state to Spectre in terms of his late-game capabilities. However, unlike her, he is also able to be itemized for the mid-game. Many people thought that the hero would fade away after the changes to his first spell. As we can see, this is definitely not the case as the hero was one of the most picked carries during ESL One Birmingham.

One of Troll’s strongest spells is his ultimate. Ever since it got changed, the hero is very hard to kill and kite around. Apart from that, his item build hasn’t really changed all that much. He still remains a relatively slow farmer, which means that he needs a good start to shine. With Troll Warlord, it’s difficult to recover after a poor laning stage.

Wraith King

Throughout the years, Wraith King has always been in and out of the meta. Currently, the hero can easily push waves, fight early on, and absorb tons of damage.

One of his main strengths is his third spell, which spawns little skeletons every time he critically hits. Those skeletons might seem weak, but don’t be fooled by their small HP pool. Once their number increases, WK can easily push any tower that stands in his way. This makes him a decent split-pusher.

Similar to Sven, Wraith King also has a reliable target stun that which is a very good way to start a team fight. That’s why getting a Blink Dagger as a first item is very common among WK players.

Apart from that, let’s not forget his strongest spell – the Ultimate. Reincarnation still remains one of the strongest late-game ultimates in Dota. What’s more, ever since his level 25 talent got introduced, the hero doesn’t even have to worry about his mana issues.
