Europe will play host to the various stages of the 2019 League of Legends (LoL) World Championship, Riot Games announced today, with the Finals to be held in Paris.
The World Championship Finals will take place at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on Nov. 10, with the quarterfinals and semifinals taking place the two previous weekends at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, on Oct. 26-27 and Nov. 2-3.
Riot Games will hold the group stage from Oct. 12-15 and Oct. 17-20 at Berlin’s Verti Music Hall, with the initial play-in stage being held at the company’s own LEC Studio in Berlin from Oct. 2-5 and Oct. 7-8. The last LoL World Championship to be held in Europe was in 2015, with the Finals at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin.

“The League of Legends World Championship is the pinnacle of esports,” said Riot Games Global Head of LoL Esports John Needham, in a release. “We are driven by the desire to bring joy to tens of millions of fans all over the globe, and these three amazing cities will provide unique settings for all to experience League of Legends esports at its best.”
Global partners MasterCard, Alienware, and Secretlab will sponsor the 2019 World Championship events. According to a release, Europe was picked for this year’s event “to celebrate the launch” of the rebranded and newly-franchised League of Legends European Championship (LEC).
The 2020 LoL World Championship will take place in China, with the 2021 edition moving to North America.
