Team Tfue Wins $100K Twitch Rivals Zero Build

by Matt Pryor

It took just a few weeks for Turner “Tfue” Tenney to reclaim his spot atop Fortnite in a new game mode.

Twitch Rivals didn’t waste any team orchestrating a massive competition amid the Zero Build craze. The removal of Fortnite’s building mechanic in Chapter 3 Season 2 single-handedly boosted Twitch viewership and participation worldwide. It felt as though we were in 2018 all over again.

Long-time Fortnite creators such as Tfue, Dennis “Cloakzy” Lepore, Caesar “CDNThe3rd” Noriega came home to experience the reinvented game. The build-up ultimately led to the first-ever Twitch Rivals Creator Series featuring Zero Build Fortnite.

The tournament featured a list of icons, including professional players and content creators, who carefully constructed their teams to win a share of $100K USD. Thirty-three teams had five matches to earn as many points as possible based on eliminations and placement, but only one could claim the title.

Tfue, Cloakzy & Scoped Dominate the Field

Tfue, Cloakzy and Scoped looked unstoppable in all five matches despite going against some worthy opponents. It came down to Team Tfue and Team NickEh30–two teams featuring premiere names in the Fortnite scene. Ultimately, Tfue showed why he and Cloakzy are two of the most decorated Battle Royale players of all time.

On the heels of a tournament-high 28 eliminations, Tfue, Cloakzy and Scoped accumulated 135 points overall. That effort included a match-four Victory Royale and an average of 27 points per game. The three players found success landing at Command Cavern—unquestionably the game’s best current landing spot. Team NickEh30 had an outside shot in game five, but Team Tfue held firm.

Tfue, Cloakzy and Scoped collected $21K USD, and Tfue added another $700 for earning the most eliminations. It was quite the showing, which led to an on-screen shotgun celebration.

Latin America & Europe Results

North America captured most of the attention this weekend, but let’s not forget about Latin America and Europe. Twitch Rivals hosted competitions for both regions; each with $100K USD on the line. For Latin America Team zEkO, consisting of zEkO, NotRiquelmee and p0me claimed the top spot with 117 points.

For Europe, TheGrefg, Vicens and professional Fortnite player MrSavage took first place, with 117 total points. Both teams secured $21K USD for their valiant efforts in the first-ever Twitch Rival Zero Build tournament.

The Zero Build fun does not stop here. Twitch Rivals has teamed up with multiple creators for other competitions over the next month. Be sure to check back with ESTNN for more on those competitions and all things Fortnite.
