The TI11 Last Chance Qualifier event has officially started, and 12 runner up teams from their own regions will give their all to claim one of the coveted two spots left in the International 2022. Even though there are definite favorites coming into the qualifier competition, fans expect underdogs to show their worth, mostly hoping for T1 Topson and Ana to pull the miracle off.
T1 was set to play a total of 4 matches, 2 against Team Liquid and 2 against Infamous. The T1 squad looked well prepared in their first- match in the Last Chance Qualifier versus Team Liquid, with Topson performing extremely well while piloting Primal Beast. The two time TI champion’s play sadly was not enough to secure the win, as T1’s cracks started to show in the mid game transition.
Multiple uncoordinated team fights by T1 helped Team Liquid to even things out, and the European favorites continued their lead thanks to Boxi’s Earthshaker.
T1’s draft for the second match was a tad different, but it still featured the controversial pick from their first draft, Gyrocopter. Ana’s Gyrocopter once again was not able to find the space to deal damage, and since Topson also struggled in the early game T1 had to say GG in just under 30 minutes.

T1 then had to battle against Infamous, and once again started the series with a strong showing. Topson managed to snowball the game with Leshrac, while Ana punished Infamous finding space with Pudge. But even after picking Undying and Primal Beast in their draft, on top of an early lead, T1 still stumbled while closing the match, which at last they finished at the 53 minute point.
Going into the second match, Infamous was able to suppress both Ana and Topson. Even though Kuku played well on Primal Beast, T1 couldn’t make the comeback and ultimately settled for a draw.
The first day of the Last Chance Qualifier was slow for T1, but it’s also about to get way tougher on the second day. In the first match, T1 will go up against Xtreme Gaming, who is currently looking for the first place in Group B. Then, Virtus Pro will be patiently waiting for T1, making it two back to back matches versus some of the best teams in the Last Chance Qualifier.
Outside of T1’s showing, the Team Secret versus Nouns series was an incredible game to watch. Team Secret had the North American representative against the wall in game 1, but Nouns came out with a vengeance on game 2. Nouns’ physical damage focused composition with picks like Templar Assassin, Witch Doctor, and Weaver synergized with the help of Batrider, upsetting Team Secret into a draw.
The LCQ group stages will only decide the official seedings for the playoff stage. The bottom two teams from each group will start the playoffs in the lowest section of the bracket, where a single loss will mean elimination from the event.
