Riot just announced one of their most extensive celebrity collaborations to date, Lil Nas X.

As one of the biggest companies behind one of the most played games worldwide, Riot Games are no stranger when it comes to team-ups. Riot’s Music Department is known for their quality products where they’ve collaborated with established artists in different genres from the hard rock singer Jørn Lande, KPOP star SOYEON, rappers like Denzel Curry and JID, to the famous pop rock band Imagine Dragons.

The latest of these partnerships was rumored to be with the American rapper Lil Nas X after he was seen around the Riot HQ. Lil Nas X got into the public eye after his country rap single about the Red Dead Redemption 2, “Old Town Road,” got famous. Ever since that, Lil Nas X has been a constant at the top of music charts with songs like “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” or “Industry Baby.”

Worlds 2022 song by Lil Nas X

Of course, with the Worlds 2022 just around the corner and with Riot constantly dropping the official song for the event around a week ago, most people thought Lil Nas X would be the choice for this year’s theme. This was confirmed by not just Riot, but the newly minted “President of League of Legends,” who is none other than Lil Nas himself.

In this video skit Lil Nas, who apparently now in charge of the whole of League, says making Worlds 2022 anthem was among his decisions, along with things like a new Udyr skin in which he is entirely nude called “Nudyr.” The video gave the fans a little snippet of the new song called “STAR WALKIN’.” The Worlds 2022 anthem is scheduled to debut on September 23, just before Play-ins start.

Lil Nas X said, “I’ve left my mark on pop culture in so many ways, and now it’s time to take on the gaming world. I will be the greatest president of League of Legends, of all time. Also, I’m going to make the best Worlds anthem of all time and put on the biggest, coolest, sexiest Worlds in the history of all Worlds,” about the new Worlds song.

Shortly after the news, fans found a live version of the song performed by Lil Nas X a couple of weeks ago, but there is no official word on whether this will be the Worlds version or not.

Lil Nas X will get involved with the new champion

Singing the Worlds 2022 anthem will not be the only change the new President of League of Legends makes. On top of this song, Lil Nas X will get involved with a skin design for the next champion coming to the game.

If you’ve seen the latest update from Riot’s dev team, you know the next champion on the list is a tank top laner from Shurima. K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah, is scheduled to be released on November 3. A prestige skin for K’Sante named Prestige Empyrean in the Worlds 2022 event pass will be available for purchase until November 14, for 2,000 event tokens. There are also rumors that Lil Nas X will have some in-game voice lines, but there is no official confirmation on it for now.
