Riot Games has announced the formation of a new publishing group, titled Riot Forge, that will work with third-party developers to design and create games that enhance and expand the League of Legends universe.

According to its web site, Riot Forge is a developer-focused publisher that looks through a lense that the League Universe offers “endless possibilities,” in terms of lore and expansion. Riot Forge believes that this could give publishers and developers the opportunity to leverage the global popularity of the LoL IP.

“We are always looking for new ways to bring the World of Runeterra and its champions to new and existing audiences around the world,” said Greg Street, vice president of intellectual property and entertainment at Riot Games. “There are so many talented game studios around the world that have exceptional experience and craft skills in all areas of game development, and we are really excited to work together to bring the LoL IP to new game experiences.”

League of Legends will expand from its PC roots and delve into the console and mobile markets to make games more accessible, according to the Riot Forge web site. However, not every game will be released on every platform.

Riot Games celebrated the 10th anniversary of League of Legends by announcing seven upcoming games and more League projects which included a yet to be named fighting game, tactical FPS game, card game, and more.

Details regarding licensing fees, royalty fees, and/or revenue sharing were not disclosed.

Riot Forge is scheduled to announce its first third-party developer at The Game Awards on Dec. 12.
