PUBG Corp. Reports $920M Operating Revenue for 2018, Led By PC and Asian Markets

  • PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) parent company PUBG Corp. reported operating revenues of $920M USD and $310M in operating profit for 2018.
  • PC as a gaming platform was listed generating the most revenue, accounting for $790M.
  • Asian markets accounted for 64% of global operating revenues.

PUBG Corp., a Krafton Game Union (a company created by Bluehole to organize itself and its subsidiaries) company and publisher of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG), announced that 2018 operating revenues totaled ₩1.05T KRW ($920M USD), ₩355.3B ($310M) of which was operating profit. The company’s total net profit for 2018 is ₩528B ($462M).

Asian markets accounted for 64% of PUBG Corp.’s operating revenue in 2018 with approximately ₩556.2B ($487M). In January, PUBG Corp. announced its PUBG China esports plan for the first half of 2019. The company will operate three professional leagues in the country, including a PUBG Development League (PDL), PUBG Champions League (PCL), and PCL Preseason.

Comparing video game platforms, PC proved to be the most profitable revenue stream and accounted for $790M for 2018. Mobile revenues at $65M and console revenues at $58M are comparatively low.

There are three PUBG Corp. sanctioned events in 2019, beginning with the FACEIT Global Summit: PUBG Classic. The inaugural competitive PUBG season will culminate with a $2M USD prize pool Global Championship in November.

Phase two of the PUBG competitive season will commence in July. Swedish esports organizer G-Loot will host The GLL GRAND SLAM: PUBG Classic, inviting 16 of the best teams from the European (PEL), Latin America, North America (NPL), and Oceania leagues.
