Overwatch League Adds HyperX as Memory Partner

by Graham Ashton

The Overwatch League has added HyperX as a new partner, the league announced via Twitter on March 28. Financial terms and other details of the deal have not been revealed at this time, except that HyperX will be the “official memory partner” of the competition. The Kingston Technology brand, which fixtures headsets and keyboards among its key products, sells a range of random-access memory (RAM) products essential for gaming, video editing, and rendering.

Like most other top esports competitions, the Overwatch League has transitioned to online-only competitions in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Six teams in the city-based franchise league were able to host homestand weekends this year, before live events were called off entirely.

HyperX is partnered with companies across the esports industry; holding the naming rights to the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas, and has deals with teams including Team Liquid and Cloud9. The brand also endorses a number of traditional athletes, such as the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli.
