The Beasley Media Group LLC announced that Jeff Zajac has been appointed as the new director of events and strategic alliances with the Overwatch League’s Houston Outlaws. He will officially begin his new position on Monday, Jan. 6, 2019.

Previously, Zajac spent the past three years as the chief operating officer of the Detroit Renegades, a Michigan-based multi-gaming esports organization. The Renegades fielded esports teams including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite, and Paladins. In his new role, Zajac will be based in Houston and will be responsible for developing the Outlaws’ events, with a focus on fans, sponsorship growth, and activations.

“As we build out the business arm of the Outlaws, we see a heavy event docket-from nationally televised events, to medium and smaller events throughout the year in the Houston, Austin and San Antonio markets,” said Beasley Media Group Chief Digital Content Officer Lori Burgess. “We plan to leverage Jeff’s logistics and esports marketing expertise to deliver on our revenue and fan engagement goals with the Outlaws in their home state of Texas.”

Beasley bought the Houston Outlaws from the Immortals Gaming Club, who acquired the franchise last June as part of its deal that saw IGC purchase Infinite Sports & Entertainment. With IGC already owning an Overwatch League franchise in the form of the Los Angeles Valiant, the league gave IGC time to divest its ownership in the Outlaws, which it did with the sale to Beasley.
