OG Partners with Blockchain Platform Socios.com for Fan Token

OG Database-Link-e1521645463907, the winning team of Dota 2‘s Database-Link-e1521645463907 The International 2018, has announced a multi-year partnership with blockchain platform Socios.com to create a fan token that ties into interactive experiences and attempts to boost engagement.

The OG Fan Token is backed by digital currency Chiliz ($CHZ), which was first listed on the Binance DEX on July 1. Fans will be able to purchase, earn, or seek out OG Fan Tokens via the Socios.com app, and use the tokens to try to win unique experiences, participate in team polls, and access merchandise and other features, according to a release.

Socios.com recently partnered with a trio of prominent soccer clubs—Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham United, and Juventus—to launch the Fan Token. OG is the first esports team to launch a token via Socios.com, and the OG Fan Token will be available in Q4 2019 and tradeable against the Chiliz currency.

NRG Esports Database-Link-e1521645463907 announced a similar deal with Enjin for team-branded tokens in February 2018, although the companies haven’t made further announcements about the partnership since.
